The hot water in the accommodation is heated from LPG gas califonts and bottles are located on the back of the building. There are two systems and these are serviced by a local supplier. If you notice there is no hot water please call the Property Manager Amy on +682 58489 and arrange for them to be looked at. Please do not adjust the bottles or heating systems and this can damage the system. There is a spare 9kg gas bottle with the BBQ that can be used until the larger bottle is refilled.

The unlimited Wifi internet connection is provided through a starlink satellite connection. The Wifi passcode is provided in your booking confirmation email. While the connection is reliable it does have a tendency to disconnect during heavy rain or storms. In this instance just leave the system and it should reconnect automatically once it can Please do not adjust the dish or settings..

Rubbish collection is an important part of keeping the island clean and tidy. If rubbish and recycling starts to build up the heat and humidity can quickly make it unpleasant. The Rubbish and recycling bins need to be out on the side of the main road for Tuesday collection. You can put these out Monday night or Tuesday morning. If they are put out too early local dogs can end up making a mess and tip the bins over.

It’s also important that general waste, glass and plastics are separated and bagged in the larger black bags otherwise the collection staff will not take it away and will leave it on the side of the road. The large black rubbish bags are located in the kitchen draw. The black bags can be placed in the wheelie bins. Collection staff like to lift the bags out of the bins, rather than tip the bins up.

Compost material can be placed in the black compost bin located on the boundary out the back door. Ensure only compostable materials are included here. No meat, onions or citrus.

The main room has an Alexa sound system. The most common voice commands are:

  • “Alexa play <enter your song or band here> on all speakers”.
  • “Alexa volume up”
  • “Alexa volume down “
  • “Alexa stop on all speakers”
  • “Alexa resume on all speakers”

Drying clothes in Rarotonga can be hard given the humidity. Where possible use the washing line at the back of the building as this saves power and is better for your clothes. If needed there is a dryer in the laundry for those raining days or to finish drying damp clothes. The door needs to be left open when washing and drying clothes otherwise condensation builds up. For the best results the dryer needs to be set to ‘auto sensing dry’ and ‘medium’ heat. There is a drying rack provided that can be used. This is best used on warm windy days.

If you have a lot of washing you can always drop it off with one of the local laundry services. They will wash, dry, fold and have your items back fast and at a reasonable price.

Cleaning equipment and materials are located in the laundry on the shelf and under the kitchen sink. There is also a vacuum cleaner, mops and buckets, etc. Please keep this area clean, tidy and locked when not in use. The key to the laundry door is on the main set.

Please lock all the doors if the house is to be unattended. While the island is safe, crime does exist and it’s best to remove the temptation. CCTV cameras are located on the outside of the building and monitor the property remotely. This does not record footage, but is used for real-time property checks by the owner. It also acts as a deterrent.

There is a safe provided in one of the main rooms where valuables can be stored. The digital PIN code for the safe was emailed to you in the confirmation of the booking. There is also a physical secondary key in the jar in the top shelf of the pantry that will unlock the safe if the digital code fails for some reason. Rarotonga is safe, but it pays to lock the house when it is unattended and to store money or passports in a safe when you are not carrying them

Manatu has a whole house filtration system at the point of entry to supply fresh water. This is important as it makes the water safe for drinking and washing. Unfiltered water on the island has the potential to introduce bugs and cause infections. The filter is located on the back of the house and is maintained by a local supplier. If you have any issues call 76781 and the Property Manager will arrange for it to be looked at. Please do not adjust any settings on the UV or filter unit as this can upset the system.

A water cooler is provided for chilled drinking water. This only needs to be filled once it is completely empty. It can be filled from the kitchen tap using a hose in the top left cabinet in the kitchen. To fill gently remove the plastic cap, fill the bottle, replace the cap, then gently flip the bottle and put it back on the cooler unit.

There is a Delonghi Primadonna coffee machine in the kitchen. This is a great machine and will grind the beans, or use pre ground coffee, froth the milk and produce the perfect coffee every time with a bit of practice. There is a manual online here. Basically you add water to the tank, beans to the grinder, milk to a jug and put the milk hose into it,, select the strength and type of coffee you want with the push of a button. We recommend you bring your favourite beans with you. Whole beans are available on the island, but the selection might be limited. Please ensure you clean the coffee machine on a regular basis if you use it a lot and please be careful with the delicate parts.

Please keep noise to a minimum outside of daylight hours. There are neighbours and permanent residences around the property who will appreciate your cooperation.

Please take care of the house and property. While we take into account wear and tear and the harsh environment we ask visitors to treat the place with respect and report any damage done or faults. The property is inspected prior and after a booking and any costs or damages may be recovered from your bond.

If in the event the bedroom or toilet door is accidentally locked there is a jar of spare keys in the top of the pantry. You will have to try a few to find the correct one.If you have an issue with locks call the property manager on +682 58489
